Kangaroo Art Example

10 minutes	Present new material: Review the vocabulary with the students; have them match the vocabulary with its Ukrainian equivalent. Show the students the PowerPoint presentation about their new country—Australia!	·       Australia PowerPoint
10—15 minutes	Review and Practice: Create a chart on the board, like the table that each student has in his/her travel journal. Using the cards with facts written on them, have the students fill in the chart before transferring it into their travel journals.   Table of Travel Journal Information     *If there is time, trace a map of Australia on the board and show students where the capital and famous cities are; introduce new landform words, too, like plateau, plains, mountains and beaches.   Reviewing geography and landforms	·         Places of Interest and Facts Cards ·         Board, chalk
20—25 minutes	Kangaroo Art: Start by having each student draw the shape of a kangaroo on brown construction paper; you may need to guide them through this on the board.   Students will then cut out their kangaroo and glue it onto a sheet of white paper.     Using cotton swabs, the students then recreate the style of cave-painting using lines and dots in patterns to elaborate their kangaroo.       Students may also want to add circles, swirls, cacti or other embellishments to create their art.
